    PARKER DUOFOLD

    BIG REDS

Click here for a detailed listing of currently available Big Reds.

Red Hard Rubber (rhr)Parker Duofold Senior Big Red (5-1/2").
Typical Red Hard Rubber Parker Duofold Senior with Medium Imprint.

Click here to email for details.

Typical Permanite (plastic) Parker Duofold Senior Big Red (5-1/2").
I always have several, usually priced in the $200 - $400 range (see detailed listing of currently available Big Reds).
Several of these pens have reconditioned (re-tipped) nibs, including reconditioned italic and stub nibs.
Italic nibs give a calligraphic flair to your writing by making broad verical strokes and narrower horizontal strokes.
Stub nibs are similar to italic nibs. They too make rather bold strokes with your pen.

    Single band model (1926-27).

    Double band model (1928).

Click here to email for details.
I usually have several proper reconditioned nibs on hand, including a few stub or italic nibs, that can be installed in any Duofold Senior.

    ALSO AVAILABLE - I HAVE 2
Original taper to convert senior Duofold to desk pen
$150 each or $125 if accompanied by purchase of a senior Duofold.
These tapers are extremely difficult to obtain, especially the originals.
One slightly longer than the other - no idea why.
Just replace the blind cap that covers the button filler with the taper and you have a desk pen.
    Both in exceptional condition.
Some say that this conversion feature is the origin of the name "Duofold".

Click here to email for details.

    OTHER DUOFOLDS (MOSTLY SENIORS)
    PREDECESSORS AND DESCENDANTS

Parker Duofold Senior Flattop Jade Green (5-1/2"). $1550
    Perfect color. No darkening.
Ink sac not installed to preserve the color. It will be installed at the buyer's request.

Click to see video of the cap.
Click here to email for details.

Streamlined Parker Duofold Senior Jade Green (5-1/8"). $1200
Near perfect color. No barrel darkening.
Tiny spots on the cap, but this is likely part of the pattern.
Ink sac not installed to preserve the color. It will be installed at the buyer's request.
The barrel has a date code which is unusual since Parker stopped making these Duofolds in 1933 and
they began date coding their pens in 1934. Best guess is that the pen went back to the factory for repair.
If true, this makes the extraordinary condition of this pen even more remarkable.

Click here to email for details.

Parker Duofold Senior Big Red flattop (5-1/2"). $475.
Re-tipped stub nib 1.1 mm - great writer - very smooth.
    This one is unusually

ORIGINAL TAPER TO CONVERT SENIOR DUOFOLD TO A DESK PEN
    (I HAVE 2)
$150 each or $125 if accompanied by purchase of a senior Duofold.
These tapers are extremely difficult to obtain, especially the originals.
One slightly longer than the other - no idea why.

    Both in exceptional condition.
Some say that this conversion feature is the origin of the name "Duofold".

    CONKLIN

Light green Conklin Endura Senior Flattop (5-1/4"). $495

The top of the Endura line in the 20's. No cracks or chips.
F nib with a bit of flex - excellent writer.
Excellent conditon with very good color. Despite the excellent conditon of the pen, the barrel imprint is inexplicably weak.

The top part of the barrel imprint is worn (see pic).

    Waterman's "color nib" pens.

    NIB COLORS/WRITING TIP CORRESPONDENCE

  • Red - Standard Point – medium, semi-flexible corresponding to a medium length, medium point.
  • Yellow - Rounded or Ball point – formerly a special nib, it is designed for left handed writers.
  • Purple - Stiff, Fine Point – designed for pressureless writing it is advertised as very popular with accountants.
  • Pink - Flexible, Fine Point – stenographer’s fine flexible which is “designed to shade at any angle”, and also described, later as a “Bookkeeper” nib, it corresponds to a long fine.
  • Blue - Blunt Point – called an improved stub that is popular with rapid writers it is also said, in later literature to be slightly oblique; it corresponds to a short stub.
  • Green - Rigid Point – fine manifold corresponding to a special nib popular in business use.
  • Brown - Fine, Flexible – it differs from the pink in that it is a medium length nib and, thus, not as flexible as the pink.
  • Grey - Oblique, actually a left oblique higher on the right than on the left, this is a short slit nib.
  • Black - Fine, flexible, actually ultra-flexible hardly distinguishable from the PINK, a long slit nib.
  • White - Coarse or broad, probably a medium taper nib.

Because the color rings on the caps generally do not age well (most are some combination of cracked, crazed and discolored) I sell replacement rings as well as pairs of white border bands.
Here are the rings I currently have available. Rings are $40 each and the white border bands are $15/pair. Postage is extra.
